In the Old Man’s War series, I believe in book two, some special forces units have been genetically altered to survive the vacuum of space and to look like asteroids. This allows them to conduct observations over enemy planets without being detected. It’s relevant because not only were they altered to survive space, but it’s implied they were altered to prefer it.
