Welcome, TASAT supporters!
We encourage you to explore this forum and try things out. It’s very helpful to work through the Discobot’s introduction to learn how the forum features work. Click your user icon in the top right corner to see notifications from Discobot and other forum activity.
Not into forums?
That’s ok. We’ve configured things so that you can respond to Challenge Alerts in the simplest way possible: via email. By default, you’ll receive an email with the title and contents of any topic flagged by Admins as a Challenge Alert. You may contribute by simply replying to this email, and your answer will be seen by users of the forum.
If you’d like to know more, or how to change the emails you receive, here are some quick notes about your email preferences:
Summary/digest emails
The current default setting is for users to receive a weekly email summary of forum activity if you haven’t visited this site for a week. The email includes links to bring you to the forum to read and participate.
This interval is configurable. You may prefer a daily summary, or monthly.
To change this at any time, visit your your own email Preferences.
Participation emails
You have default settings to always get an email when:
- you are messaged privately
- you are quoted, replied to, or mentioned by someone typing @your_username
- when there is new activity in a category, tags or topic that you are “watching.”
To change this at any time, visit your own email Preferences.
Challenge Alerts
A high priority for TASAT is to offer a low-friction way for readers to answer the most pertinent questions without constantly monitoring the forum. We accomplish this by defaulting all users to “Watching First Post” on the Challenge Alerts tag.
When TASAT staff tag a topic as a Challenge Alert, that topic is sent out alone as an email that can be replied to directly.
Users who who just want to receive Challenge Alerts, and reply to them via email, can turn off the Summary and never visit the forum again.
This setting is available in your own email Preferences.
Custom alerts
Advanced users may want to customize their Tracking settings further. For example, you may also want an email for any topic tagged “AI.”
This can be done by visiting the Tracking section of your Preferences.
